But, is it as easy it seems? Can you develop a mobile app and expect it to perform well in the market? The answer to this question is straight away a BIG NO!!!

To make sure that your business has a kickass mobile app, you need to keep certain key points in mind while developing it. Here is a look at those elements of developing an effective mobile app for businesses -

An interface in sync with your website

One of the most important things to keep in mind when developing a mobile app is that it should be in sync with your brand identity. It is human psychology to connect with something that they are already using. Think of the mobile app as an extension of your existing website.

Try to keep the interface as close as possible for people to connect with it. Take a look at any of the successful products with their mobile apps in the market and you will get to see how close they are in terms of usability and look and feel of their mobile and desktop versions.

It should bring some value to the users

Developing a mobile app just for the heck of it is even worse than not having a mobile app at all. If the mobile app is not adding value to what you are already giving to the users via your website or desktop application, then it is going fall flat within a matter of days.

There are plenty of examples of businesses that had groundbreaking success with their online platforms, but were unable to grab the attention with their mobile apps. Why? Because they did not offer anything of value with it. Try to add an element of surprise in the mobile app so that the users are enticed to try it at least once.

Keep customer ergonomics at the forefront

How is the user going to use the app? The screen size? How do maximum users hold their smartphones? Where does their finger lie? Gesture control? Pinch zoom. Swipe to forward files and more. There are so many ergonomics that have come into the picture with the rise of smartphones. And a smart leader, you cannot afford to miss out any one of these.

Place the most important elements of your mobile according to these factors. You can easily find ample amount of information, case studies, statistical data and more on the internet regarding the same. Do the homework first, gather all the numbers, bring your think tank together and get on with the development after figuring out the right combination.

User-centric and actionable

The most important factor, I’ve kept for the last. When you are dealing with mobile apps, there are plenty of limitations as compared to the web versions. First of all, the screen size is smaller. So you’ve got to put the most important elements in a limited space. Secondly, the time to make an impact on the user is automatically reduced. You’ve got to have something that keeps the customers glued to the screen while using the app.

This is the reason why an intuitive user-interface and actionable layout become highly important. You can check out the thoroughly laid-out guidelines for both iOS and Android, and figure out a strategy to develop a mobile app for your business, which can take user-engagement to the next level.
