How to manage work during Holiday season

The holiday season is exciting for all the businesses. At this time of the year, your business might be ready to bloom or already blooming, but your employees will certainly be stressed and exhausted. Brace yourselves as you will have to juggle parties, shopping, guest preparations, events, traveling and work. As a manager, staying on top of responsibilities can sometimes be difficult during the holiday season. It can be quite challenging for a manager to keep everyone focused as there will be so many expectations and demands. Employees usually lose motivation during the festive season which becomes a reason for the dip in productivity.

However, managers need to maintain focus through the chaos during the holiday season. They have to motivate their employees to celebrate and start the next year strong by converting the fun holiday spirit into a great time to work. So, how are your motivating your employees? Spread the holiday cheer at work with these simple tips to enforce maximum productivity in your office.

Get along with a to-do list

You may have a million things to do during this holiday season and you will easily get overwhelmed with your list. So, this is the best time to get organized. Make a to-do list for what you need to do and take one thing, one day, at a time. Having a plan will organize your tasks, increase your productivity, allow you to focus on each item and you will soon be less stressed.

Clear the distractions on the way

During the holidays when everyone else is on vacation, it can be difficult to keep distractions away from you and motivate yourself to stay productive. Holiday stress, emails and quick questions from people in the office, and daydreaming about the upcoming holiday party can be some of the major distractions around the corner during the holiday season. Before you start working on your tasks, try to plan out the day, set goals for the day and start getting them done.

Schedule and organize everything

From your family shopping to your next deadline, make sure you mark everything on your calendar or your planner. Check the marked dates on calendar daily to carry forward the tasks. Make it a habit to check your calendar or planner daily and carry it with you wherever you go. When you will be having all the tasks to do marked along with the deadlines, you can get the work done early and on time.

Prioritize your tasks

This holiday season, make sure you’re clear about your priorities. Be ready, set your priorities, — especially around the holidays. For the several weeks be very clear on your goals. Break your tasks into urgent tasks and important tasks so it is easy to tackle them one by one. It may be hard to decide the main tasks but it is important to complete your work assignments in a timely manner and manage your work and personal life during holidays.

Clear your mind and start fresh

As the holiday rush is about to start your mind will probably be surrounded by constant thoughts of trying to stay focused at work, things you have to do and things you would like to accomplish. Schedule a few tasks for each day and complete them. Do not take them over to next day. Looking at your prospective holiday activity don’t drag the extra baggage from day to day. Each night take time to enjoy the satisfaction that comes with completing your goals. Don’t worry about tomorrow, focus on the present day. Taking one day at a time will help you stay focused on the immediate tasks and reduce anxiety.

Avoid procrastinating

The festive season is quickly approaching and it is easy to get swept up in the excitement. You may lose focus on your project goals. Practising procrastination is another common thing pulls us down. Avoid procrastinating by setting a consistent schedule and stop putting off your work assignments at a later date. Give yourself breaks from time to time, to save yourself from additional stress.

Use time wisely for your schedule

We tend to load our already busy schedule even more during the holiday season to complete more in less time. With the extra scheduled activities our stress to work more increases. This makes us more overwhelmed, robbing us of the joy. So, to manage your time wisely during holiday season make sure you are not overloading yourself with something that leads to getting caught up in the middle of nowhere. Manage your time with wisdom and grace to complete other tasks in your life, such as family time, holiday shopping, getting together with friends, etc.

Give yourself time to get your workflow on

Be a little kind to yourself this holiday season. Establish a workflow for your team, so their creativity is flowing, accomplishment pours in, and productivity is easy. Be diligent in playing your particular role, responsibilities, and skills. Make sure you have a clear understanding of your project goals how you are contributing to big goals to plan accordingly to transform the way to manage your workflow. It’s like giving yourself full time for concentrating on what matters.

Party at the end of the year

Whether you’ve reached your end-of-year goals or still struggling, do not forget to take the time to celebrate your employees. Your employees have been working during the holiday season, they surely deserve a treat. Office parties are important to boosting company morale. Host a party and invite employees along with their families to exchange gifts. You can also add something extra to the festivities if your goals are achieved or surprise them with recognition in front of their family.

EMBRACE THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT

Get your employees in the holiday spirit. Bring some cheer into work with creative office gift exchange. Take a picture of your clients and customers and celebrate your success. Your attitude will still have the greatest sway on employee morale. Stay positive. Tell your employees how much you appreciate them.

The holiday season is a tricky time for all employers and employees. Its time of the year that is different from the rest. Manage your work well during this season, once done wrong it could cripple the business and hurt your culture and your brand. Create an atmosphere of fun and cheer, you will also feel better about yourself.

I hope this post will help you to get some actionable tips to create the right atmosphere for your business during holiday season.
